So much

The showcase was so fun, it was so neat to see everyone's stuff put together, it was actually the neatest thing this year. I can't believe we have so few classes left, this feeling has proven to me how much I will need to continue taking art classes. Which is good, but still sad.

The flower paintings are going to be awesome, the portfolios will be awesome, being a lumberjack will be awesome- it's just all so great!

Good memory

Remember when we saw Jesse Reno's stuff?
Well I did a little check up and realized I had forgotten how great his stuff it.
It's way more than what I remembered.
Wowowow.
IMPRESSED round two.

Stuck in the mud.

Complaint: I'm still stuck, I can't make anything good. Abby and Monet told me to create more ground in my pieces and do more than one bird per piece. I guess I should because I kind of need to show growth from the whole one bird with foreground and background, but we'll see.

More: I did two pieces this weekend, it was nice, but I didn't really spend much time on them because I don't know why. Soooooo I'm excited to see if they please Abby and Monet.

We're almost done with making art on the same thing over and over again :)

Too Interesting

Spring break was a joke in the art department in base Cara Glabau.
I didn't do anything even though I kept on thinking I would, I wish I did, this week wasn't a very successful one. This month I got like one bad piece done and another bad one started. Sorry for complaining.

I did though go to a place that made me want to paint on walls. I'm sure you've
heard of it:

Rimsky-Korsakoffee House

How great it was, it was cute, funky, there was an old lady playing piano. I enjoyed myself, then when a friend and I left to check out the crazy bathrooms we came back and the table was up to our necks, it had risen, and by the time we left it was low again at our waists. The friends who had been at the table never noticed it go up. We were oh so confused.

One of the most uncomfortable parts of my night, or even spring break. Otherwise though it was very delightful.

Tight

The two pieces I've been working on this march are bugging me. At first I was kind of happy with them, I enjoyed doing them. Then I realized they have no emotion and nothing interesting about them, soooo I think I will start something new next class to move on from those funks and just get past them. I can go back to them later. I should have just kept rolling from where I left off last month. I need to remember to keep loosey goosey.

Calligraphy

I took the calligraphy class at Waluga, I didn't really like Waluga, but I think I liked that class. I want to re-learn it, because I was thinking about how fun it would be to write like that. Then I would write letters to my grandparents all the time all fancy like. I have a felt-tip calligraphy pen but it's not as cool as the one's we used in junior high, so I think that should be on my to do list.

@@@@@@@@@@

We've had this Zeppelin album hanging on our dining room wall for a few years now (of course we do) and it's always struck me as beautiful and I like to look at it when I don't know what to write about for a paper or something. It make schoolwork seem more in the now. I don't know. I've never given it the credit it deserves, so I will right here.

Anyways.

Monet and I did henna for NAHS hours at the multi cultural night. It was really fun actually! I like doing henna, even if they didn't turn out that good, it was a good opportunity to practice.

(Monet and I have a secret money making plan. We came up with it then. Woot.)

Bird Man

I must thank Katherine for this, because she made a comment on my last post and said "bird man" and now I WANT TO DO A BIRD MAN.

I think it would be really fun, and of course it's been done before but I want to see if I can do it. I feel like my last piece had some more man qualities to it, just the posture of the one bird and his meaty legs, but now I want to push that, might as well!

(Apparently birdman is a rapper, because I tried to get a picture, but this was all I could get.)

Thairrand

We're talking to our excellent friend Helen and this piece of work reminds me of her presense in our life and how much we miss her :]

And I really really really like this bird, it's new, and adorable, and honest, and glorious. I feel inspired, paint could be fun, but I doubt I will actually do so.

Actually I'm considering doing a painting just for fun, to get some other stuff out, but keep myself interested so I don't get too wrapped up, I don't even know what I'm talking about.

I don't know why I'm posting this, it will be my homework for next week. DONE.
Ladies and gentlemen, Rick Bartow...

January is done.

Concentration: Birds. Sadly that's it right now.

Pieces:

ONE.

  • I don't know if the eye works. Can you even see it?
  • I was shooting for a lot of movement in the body. Did that work out?

TWO.

  • The diagonal line that follows along the wing and yellow bothers me.
  • Is they eye alright?
  • Can you even tell it's holding a snake, does it even matter?

No reason.

I'm going through a stage where I want to do the same piece over and over again and I know they look the same while I'm doing them but I can't stop. This sucks.

I'm going to focus as much as I can to start to mix it up. Now I actually want to make birds something interesting.

Goals:
1. Do way more pieces than necessary so I can pick my favorites that display growth in the end.
2. Use different colors in each piece.
3. Make birds do something. I can't stop making a bird standing there doing nothing.
4. Make birds something that people can care about. Right now I don't even care about my birds.

End of story.
